Depth Charge is one of the larger works in the Mindscape Contemplations series, created through layers of sand mixed into oil paint and applied with palette knife, brushes, and cloth. Its surface holds the weight of a brooding sky and the suggestion of immense power beneath the sea - forces gathering, shifting, ready to break. The painting carries a transformative energy, as if something undeniable is stirring at the level of the soul: the swell of falling in love, the upheaval of change, the moment when life alters course and nothing remains the same.
