Painted in 2021, still at the tail end of lockdowns, this painting was inspired by a trip to Arezzo, Tuscany, a few years previously. It was the time before Christmas and New Year, the Christmas lights were strung between buildings and as the afternoon got darker, the buildings faded and the lights shone. A palette of earthy, natural tones, stone and earth, this is an example of Molly’s abstract and illustrative styles combined.
