A Drink At The Old Harbour
23cm x 23cm, oil on canvas
A Drink at the Old Harbour is inspired by evenings spent on the Greek Island of Spetses with her great love, watching the boats arriving and leaving, peaceful in each other’s company.
The work reflects both personal memory and the mythic harbour of Ithaca, where Penelope awaited Odysseus. In Greek myths, the harbour is a place of both return and departure. Here, memory and myth intertwine: a moment of intimacy at dusk becomes a meditation on love held in suspension - a threshold between presence and absence, private longing and epic return.
